Arthur Hiller is the director responsible for such classic light comedies as "The In-Laws", and "The Out-of-Towners". He was President of the Director's Guild of America from 1989 to 1993 and is credited as having created the name "Alan Smithee"; a name used by directors when their work is butchered beyond recognition by the (producing) powers that be. Arthur Hiller's dramatic works include classic TV series such as "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Gunsmoke", "Perry Mason", Nightwing, Teachers, and Tobruk, anmongst others.
