Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program

Economic Nominees

The Province of Nova Scotia is seeking experienced managers with basic literacy skills in English, or French and English, to make a financial contribution to a Nova Scotia business and enter into an employment contract with that business.

To qualify as an Economic Nominee:

  • You must have owned and operated a business, either on your own or in partnership with someone else, or you must have two years of management experience during the last five years this experience may have been accumulated in business, government, or another type of institution, including profit and non-profit organizations
  • You must have legally accumulated, by your own efforts, a minimum net worth of $300,000 Canadian; documentation is required to support both the dollar figure and the manner of accumulation
  • You must have basic literacy skills in English, or French and English, including speaking, reading and writing, and you must be able to be understood or to function in a job situation
  • You must have a minimum education of grade 12 (or equivalent to a Nova Scotia grade 12)
  • You must be between 25 and 60 years of age when you apply
  • You must make a one-time, non-refundable contribution of $128,800, once accepted; the funds will be held in trust
  • You must then select a six-month, middle-management employment contract from a list of companies approved by the Province of Nova Scotia; you will receive a salary of $20,000 for this six-month period.

Note: If you are unable to obtain a Canadian residence visa, your financial contribution of $128,800 will be returned, less a small processing fee.
